Opportunities in the offshore wind industry for Essex based businesses

Offshore wind industry

Companies in the manufacturing, engineering, or construction industries are being invited to participate in a workshop highlighting business opportunities in the offshore wind industry. This will be held during the East of England Energy Group’s (EEEGR) Southern North Sea (SNS2016) conference which is attracting key energy industry players and upwards of 500 delegates from across the industry and supply chain.

Opportunities for the energy and low carbon sectors

Harwich International PortForecasts show that by 2020 more than £13 billion would be invested in major energy-related projects across Essex and the wider region and by 2030 capital expenditure on and off the coast of Essex will be more than £40bn. Around half of this investment is in building and maintaining new offshore wind farms planned for the East Coast, together with new gas-fired power stations, the decommissioning of offshore oil and gas platforms and pipelines, and potentially building new nuclear power stations in Essex and Suffolk.

Nautilus Associates, appointed by Essex County Council, will lead a specialist industry group to assess the county's prospects and create a plan for business growth across the energy and low carbon sectors.
